Description: Business Communications courses help students to develop an understanding and appreciation for effective communication in business situations and environments. Emphasis is placed on all phases of communication: speaking, listening, thinking, responding, reading, writing, communicating nonverbally, and utilizing technology for communication. Business communication functions, processes, and applications in the context of business may be practiced through problem-based projects and real world application.

Description: Marketing Applications furthers student understanding and skills in the various marketing functions. Students coordinate channel management with other marketing activities, discuss the nature of marketing plans, generate product ideas, coordinate activities in the promotional mix, and demonstrate specialized sales processes and techniques. Economic and financial concepts are also stressed throughout the course. Current technology will be used to acquire information and to complete the projects. Throughout the course, students are presented problem solving situations for which they must apply academic and critical-thinking skills. Formal reflection is an on-going component of the course along with four projects.

Description: Marketing Management will review the topics of Marketing but place emphasis on business management and entrepreneurship providing exposure to common techniques and problems of management. Some of the areas of management covered are: Human Resources Management, Information Management, Channel Management, and Marketing-Information Management. Students will learn how to run a small business by operating the school store. Students will take the role of employees and managers and will be responsible for all aspects of store operations, including staffing, supervision, store maintenance, cash register and money handling procedures, customer service, purchasing, inventory management, and accounting.
