Welcome to our Purple Star Program
At Spring Hill Schools, we proudly welcome and support military-connected families as part of our vibrant community. We understand the unique challenges and opportunities that come with military life, and we are dedicated to ensuring your family feels at home and supported from the moment you arrive. By participating in the Kansas Purple Star School Program, we demonstrate our unwavering commitment to serving those who serve our nation.
How We Support Military Families
We have created a comprehensive program to meet military-connected students' and their families' educational, emotional, and social needs. Here’s how we go above and beyond for you:
Dedicated Point of Contact
Each school has a friendly and knowledgeable staff member who is a dedicated liaison for military families. This point of contact (POC) is here to:
-
Help with enrollment and academic planning.
-
Provide information about resources tailored to military families.
-
Offer guidance throughout your child’s educational journey. Our POCs are trained in the Interstate Compact on Educational Opportunity for Military Children, ensuring smooth transitions for your family.
A One-Stop Resource for Military Families at USD230.org
We’ve created a special page on our website for military families to make things easier. Here you’ll find:
-
Step-by-step enrollment guidance.
-
Information on academic programs and extracurricular activities.
-
Links to counseling and other support services.
-
Connections to local military resources. This page is regularly updated, so you can count on having the latest information at your fingertips.
Student Transition Support
Moving to a new school can be challenging, but our student ambassador program is here to help! Current students volunteer to:
-
Welcome new military-connected students.
-
Show them around campus.
-
Help them make new friends and settle in. These peer connections create a sense of belonging from day one.
Staff Training on Military Family Needs
Our teachers and staff are trained to understand the unique experiences of military families. Through partnerships with military liaisons, we provide professional development that ensures our team is prepared to:
-
Address the challenges faced by military-connected students.
-
Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment.
Military Recognition and Community Engagement
We value the contributions of our military families and strive to honor them through:
-
School-wide recognition events.
-
Public displays such as tribute walls and military recognition boards.
-
Partnerships with local military organizations to strengthen our support network.
Board Resolution of Support
Our Board of Education has proudly passed a resolution to affirm our district’s dedication to serving military families. This public declaration reflects our deep respect and commitment to creating an environment where your family can thrive.
