I have been with the Johnson County Sheriff's Office for 24 years and have been assigned as the School Resource Officer in the Spring Hill School District since 2017! My office is at Spring Hill High School, and I also have an office at Spring Hill Middle School on the South campus. The presence of an SRO in schools is an important step in increasing school safety and fostering positive relationships between law enforcement officers, school staff, and students.

I look forward to working with your children and helping to ensure their safety!

    Have a great year,

    Deputy Pechnik

    Deputy Brown

I graduated in 2009 and am a Deputy Sheriff currently on patrol, but I will be starting as a Spring Hill School District SRO. I’ve worked for the Sheriff’s Office for 12 years. I started as a Civilian Specialist, working in the booking lounge. I did that for a little over seven years. I then went to Sheriff's Records for under a year before becoming a deputy in 2020.

I attended Johnson County Community College an earned three associate degrees: Criminal Justice, General Science, and Liberal Arts. Then I attended KU and got my Bachelor’s in History with a Minor in Women’s History.

I was in the Explorer’s program through Spring Hill PD, and I loved it. I applied to the Sheriff’s Office, thinking I would work through college, but I ended up loving the job, so I stayed.

When I went to Spring Hill, there were only four schools, and the high school was brand new; I was the second graduating class there. I have many fond memories, like always getting in trouble with Mr. Reinking for texting while in class, painting a house for the Volunteer Club, and going to football games with friends dressed in our Bronco Gear. There are many teachers who impacted my life, Mrs. Talcott, Mr. Tatum, Mrs. Floyd, Mrs. Cotter, Mrs. Anderson, Mrs. Rodden, Mr. Young, Mr. Reinking, and I keep in touch with most of them. My SRO, Officer Debbie Rogers, is the one I speak to the most and still keep in touch. She supports my law enforcement career and encourages me through everything. I hope to be able to do that for at least one student while I’m here.

I can be reached at the Johnson County Sheriff's Office at (913) 715-5400 or at sro2@usd230.org. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. I'm looking forward to my first year serving the students and families at Spring Hill Schools.

    Have a great year,

    Deputy Kirstie Brown
