Welcome to Choral Music at Spring Hill High School. We base our program upon two simple tenets:
- Music is for everyone!
- All students can benefit from a choral curriculum based upon the National Music Standards:
- Singing, alone and with others, a varied repertoire of music.
- Playing instruments, alone and with others, a varied repertoire of music.
- Improvising melodies and variations.
- Composing and arranging music.
- Reading and notating music.
- Listening to, analyzing, and describing music.
- Evaluating music and music performed.
- Understanding relationships between music, other arts and disciplines outside the arts.
- Understanding music in relation to history and culture.

The Spring Hill High School Choral Department puts on five concerts each school year as a vital part of the curriculum:
- Fall Concert in October
- Winter Concert in December
- Masterworks in February
- Pre-State Concert in late March/early April
- Pops Concert in May
In addition to the choral concerts, the Spring Hill High Choral Department also hosts an Evening of Cabaret to showcase the vocal talents of our students performing their favorite pop, country and Broadway songs. Also, during second semester, students that choose to compete vocally in the Regional Solo and Ensemble Festival receive vocal coaching to prepare solos for contest.
Spring Hill High Choirs have twice been selected to perform at the prestigious Carnegie Hall Stage in New York City. The first performance was in June of 2002, when our students performed “The Lord Nelson Mass” by Franz Josef Haydn under the direction of Dr. Dennis Cox, from the University of Maine. The most recent performance was in June of 2006, when our students performed the “Requiem” by John Leavitt under the direction of Dr. Randy Pagel, from the University of Arizona. Spring Hill soloists were used exclusively in that performance.
