Spring Hill High prides itself on the delivery of curriculum based on best teaching practices that incorporate technologies to create graduates ready for today’s global environment. SHHS students have achieved Adequate Yearly Progress every year with Standards of Excellence in reading, writing, and social studies.
Grading
- A: 90% (4.0)
- B: 80-89.99% (3.0-3.99)
- C: 70-79.99 (2.0-2.99)
- D: 60-69.99 (1.0-1.99)
- F: below 59% and below (.99 GPA & below).
All grades at SHHS are unweighted and allow for a maximum 4.0 cumulative GPA.
Graduation Requirements
24 credits, as well as Kansas and district curriculum standards, are required for graduation. Valedictorians and salutatorians are determined based on cumulative GPA and credit completion of the Kansas State Scholar Curriculum (most rigorous). Requirements for graduation, for a total of 24 credits, from Spring Hill High School are:
- English/Language Arts: 4 Units
- Mathematics: 3 Units
- Science: 3 Units
- Social Studies: 3 Units
- Computer/Technology: 1 Unit
- Fine Arts: 1 Unit
- Physical Education: 1 Unit
- Electives: 8 Units
Courses Overview
Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate courses are not offered at Spring Hill High.
Honors Courses
Honors courses include Honors English 2, Honors English 3, Honors Chemistry 1, Honors Geometry, Honors Algebra 2, Calculus/Analytical Geometry HNRS, Chemistry 2 HNRS, and Composition I & 2 HNRS.
College Credit Courses*
College credit courses include College Composition 1 & 2, College Biology, College Algebra, Statistics and College Calculus.
*Offered in partnership with Johnson County Community College, Overland Park, KS.
C.N.A. Certification
Certified Nursing Aide Certifications are offered on the campus of Spring Hill High through cooperative services with Ft. Scott Community College at little or no cost to high school students. This program is a pathway to nursing, pharmacology, and the medical sciences.
