• Registration & General Course Information

SHHS will once again offer driver’s education this summer. The classroom portion of the class will be taught online, and the driving portion will continue to be taught by SHHS staff over six consecutive days in the summer.

Registration will be in-person on Tuesday, February 6 at 6:30 p.m. sharp in the high school auditorium. Students must be present at the registration meeting to complete and sign the enrollment form for the State of Kansas.

Please fill out this required PRE-REGISTRATION FORM in order to accommodate our anticipated crowd. Once you have filled out the form, a link for payment will be sent to the registrant’s email. The form will close at midnight on Monday, February 5.

Students enrolling in the course must be 14 years old by April 1, 2024. No exceptions can be made.

Please bring the following items to registration:

    • Student’s valid instruction permit (preferred, but not required)
    • Enrollment fee (RevTrak payments only) of $274 per in-district student
    • Pen to write with

Access to the online portion of the class will begin Spring Break week. The coursework can be fulfilled on any computer with internet access and/or at Spring Hill High during scheduled lab times. The final exam and KS State handbook test must be taken under the supervision of a Spring Hill drivers’ education instructor, and it will be scheduled once the student completes and passes their online coursework.

Online courses require about the same amount of work as regular high school classes. However, you will notice that online learning requires more student responsibility when completing assignments and activities. Active support from parents/guardians can play a key role in assisting the student to complete coursework as well as developing the work ethic needed to be successful in this learning environment.

Upon enrolling in Drivers’ Education, students will receive an introductory email from Virtual Greenbush, the agency coordinating the online curriculum. The email will contain the student’s password, course information, and teacher expectations. If there are any questions about the course, please contact Jennifer Anderson.

Noteworthy this year is a program cap of 85 students due to an instructor shortage. To secure your spot, you must attend the registration meeting, and prepayment will be required - with a one-week decision window closing on Tuesday, February 13 for a full refund. Additionally, the fee paid becomes non-refundable if your student begins the online coursework and does not complete the program in any way. Act quickly to secure your position, as the slots are available on a first-come, first-served basis. A waiting list will be established once the 85th spot is filled.

    After Registration

    1. Once payment has been received and registration is complete (usually within a week), students will be provided with the link to enroll with Virtual Greenbush and may begin the online coursework.
    2. The student must visit the high school during one of the scheduled computer lab times to complete the final online exam and KS State Handbook test.
    3. When the student has passed the final exam and KS State Handbook test, he or she will be allowed to schedule his or her driving time with the instructors. Appointments will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

    Behind the Wheel

It is absolutely essential for students to be on time for all scheduled driving sessions. Because drive times are shared, the instructor will not wait for late arrivals, and the student will need to contact the instructor to make up his or her driving session. A make-up fee may be assessed for missed sessions.
