Prairie Creek Elementary encourages students to participate in extracurricular and co-curricular activities. The wide range of activities that is available to students helps them explore interest areas and develop talents. Students also enhance their citizenship skills and practice teamwork, which prepares them for life and their continued education.
In addition, students build their leadership skills through participation in student-led organizations that plan many individual events and spirit activities for the school through the year.
Community service is also strongly emphasized at Prairie Creek Elementary, including giving back to the local community and sharing globally. Some of the activities the students have been involved in are collecting scarves, hats, and blankets for the local tree of warmth, collecting food for our local pantry, adopting several families from the local service center, collecting pennies for patients, collecting money for Hoops for Heart, sending books to schools affected by natural disasters, and sending cards to the military.

Community Service
Community service is an important way of developing a child’s understanding of empathy and compassion for others. By giving to those in need, students learn how to put the needs of others above their own and also experience the joy associated with the process. At Prairie Creek Elementary, community service projects are held throughout the year. These projects focus not only locally but also globally so that students learn more about the many needs that exist. Please check back here in the fall for a full schedule of community service events.

Math Activities
Each year, fourth and fifth grade students at Prairie Creek are invited to participate in the Continental Mathematics League, a problem-solving competition. The students participate in the Euclidean Division, which requires above average reading comprehension and analytical reasoning capabilities. The five meets are held once a month from November – March and consist of a 30-minute test in which each student independently answers six questions. The top six scores on the test for each grade level will be the team's score for each meet.

The students who are chosen as officers model qualities of being excellent students and work together with the advisor to promote school spirit and pride. They lead spirit days, lead assemblies, and help out with various activities around the school.
