• Welcome to the Prairie Creek Elementary Library Media Center! Our library supports lifelong learning by encouraging a love of reading and developing research skills. It is a great place to find your next book to read and learn to use information and technology effectively.

    Our Collection

The PCES Library Media Center houses nearly 9,000 items. The collection is organized with an online catalog that students can access from school or home through Destiny, an online card catalog for PCES students and staff. Students can log on to the catalog using their district email and password.

Students check out books weekly and may come to the library between official check-out days to check out new materials during open library hours. Students have library lessons along with the incorporation of library skills into their classroom curriculum.

    Flexible Schedule

The PCES Library Media Center has a flexible schedule. This scheduling model allows for use of the library space for many different learning experiences. The librarian has the flexibility to support classrooms and student learning as needed. In the library, students will learn about reading and research skills through games, collaborative activities, and STEM/STEAM projects. The flexible schedule allows for more open library times for extra checkouts, group work, and classroom visits.

Mandy Shultz smilingAbout the Media Specialist

Hello! My name is Mandy Shultz, the PCES Library Media Specialist. The library is a busy place and PCES students love to read! I enjoy helping them explore all types of books and learn about research and great research techniques.

I have taught third, fourth and fifth grades for many years before returning to school to earn my library science degree from Emporia State University. Being a Library Media Specialist allows me to continue to teach and work with students and to share a love of books and learning! I so enjoy talking with students about their favorite books and love when they discover something new and exciting about the world.

My family includes my husband, my almost adult children, a goofy Labrador, and my cats, Howie Kemp and Ramona Quimby.
