• The Kansas State Board of Education announced on July 9, 2019, that Prairie Creek Elementary School (PCES) was a "Go for Launch" of their Kansans Can School Redesign Project plans during the 2019-20 school year.

As one of the seven districts in Kansas selected to participate, PCES launched its redesign plans during the 2018-19 school year. Their redesign team participated in regional workshops throughout the school year and in May, they were cleared for launch by the Launch Readiness Committee, which was comprised of representatives from the Kansas Department of Education (KSDE) and educational service centers.

"We are so proud of the dedication and determination of our employees at PCES to make this launch a reality. They have worked hard to provide a new approach to student learning and all of our students will benefit from this process," said Wayne Burke, USD 230 Superintendent.

    Career STEAM Investigation Studio

The CSI (Career STEAM Investigation) Studio at PCES provides fifth graders an opportunity to experience career field interests. Our program supports social-emotional growth, provides students choices, promotes community partnerships along with real-world application. The Gemini Team works to create and implement career explorations aligned with college and career clusters. These culminating activities design learning around students' passions and interests which allow the students to have an important role, and a greater investment in their learning. The program will provide a more efficient transition into middle school where they will begin their Individual Plan of Study.
