Every year, students from all walks of life have the opportunity to participate in the Scripps National Spelling Bee, one of the nation's oldest and most iconic competitions. They progress from classroom to cafeteria, from auditorium to civic center, delighting friends, family, sponsors, and fans, just as millions of other students have done before them. The Woodland Spring Middle champion advances to the Johnson County Spelling Bee held in January. Competing in the State-National Spelling Bee is the ultimate goal for our Stallions!

Each year, selected sixth grade students will be invited to participate in the Continental Mathematics League, a problem-solving competition. The students will participate in the EUCLIDEAN DIVISION, which requires above-average reading comprehension and analytical reasoning capabilities. The five meets will be held once a month from November-March and will consist of a 30-minute test in which each student independently answers six questions. The top six scores on the test will be the team’s score for each meet.
