Hello, Cavalier Families!
My name is Abby Robertson and I am the School Counselor at Dayton Creek Elementary. What a privilege it is to be a part of the Cavalier Family and the USD 230 School District!The best way to get new information, find resources, or refer your child(ren) for counseling is to check out my website!
As your School Counselor, my role is to assist students and their families in academic, social-emotional, and career domains through Classroom Guidance Lessons, Individual and Group Counseling, as well as through collaboration with classroom teachers, administrators, and parents. Lessons and small groups may cover topics such as:
- Friendship skills
- Leadership
- The Zones of Regulation
- Bully prevention
- Self-esteem
- Conflict resolution
- Study skills
- Goal setting
- Kindness
- Cooperation
- Sadness
- Worrying
- Coping with grief
- Anger management
Students can meet with the counselor by self-referral or by referral from parents or teachers. I am also the Section 504 Coordinator and the Watch D.O.G.S. Coordinator.
About Me
I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services from Ottawa University and my Master’s Degree in School Counseling from Emporia State University. This is my 5th year as a School Counselor. I live in Wellsville, KS with my husband, 5 year old son, 2 year old son, and our dog, Baxter. In my free time, I enjoy spending extra time with my family and friends, and cheering on the Jayhawks, Royals, and Chiefs!
