Meet Laura, Forest Spring's new math teacher!
"Hi everyone! My name is Laura Hernandez, I’ll be teaching 6th grade Math at Forest Spring. I began my teaching career as a 6th grade teacher in Gardner, where I taught for five years. After that, I took time away from the classroom to raise my three children until they each started kindergarten. For the past six years, I’ve been substitute teaching in Olathe, which has allowed me to work with students across all grade levels and in a variety of classrooms. I have three amazing kids—Ella, who’s 15, Evan, who’s 13, and Emery, who’s 11. They keep me very busy with all of their activities, including competitive softball, competitive gymnastics, competitive baseball, cheerleading, football, and basketball. I love spending my free time cheering them on and supporting them in everything they do.
When I’m not at school or watching my kids compete, you’ll usually find me on the softball field coaching. Coaching has been a wonderful way to help young athletes build confidence, teamwork, and a love for the game.
I’m excited to get to know all of you and look forward to a great year together."
