Information Guide
Academics
Academics are a student-athlete’s first priority. Athletes must be passing all classes to attend meets. Athletes are expected to balance athletics and school work.
Attendance
Practice - Athletes are expected to attend all practices. If there is a conflict with another activity, athletes need to communicate the conflict with Coach Maples or Coach Woodward in advance of the season so that we can work out an acceptable schedule. If an athlete will miss a practice, parents need to notify the coaches in advance. Three unexcused absences from practice will result in dismissal from the team.
Meets - Athletes are expected to attend all meets. You must attend the practice the day before a meet in order to compete the following day. Outside activities will not be accepted as an excuse for a missed meet. One unexcused absence from a meet will result in dismissal from the team.
Discipline
Athletes are expected to adhere to the athlete expectation guide. Failure to adhere to team standards will result in added workouts. Repeated failure to meet team standards will result in dismissal from the team. Missed practices due to a teacher-issued detention will be counted as an unexcused absence.
Communication
Communication with athletes will occur on the Google Classroom page. Parents should expect to receive e-mails through skyward messenger. Coaches will communicate information for each meet the Friday before the meet.
Practice
Practices will be held from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 3:30-5:00 p.m. on Fridays. Friday practices are optional. Athletes must be picked up on time. Be sure your ride is here no later than 5:45 p.m. Any alterations to the practice schedule will be communicated in advance. If there is an early release day, there will NOT be practice that day.
Shoes
A good pair of running shoes are a requirement for track. For most students the shoes they wear for P.E. are appropriate. Coaches are happy to assist any athletes who have questions about their footwear. We encourage you to talk to a coach before you spend money on a new pair of shoes.
Spring Break
Athletes will be provided a workout plan during Spring Break. Track injuries often occur when athletes push themselves too hard, too early. We will continue practice after Spring Break with the assumption that athletes have followed the workout plan during the break. Athletes who do not maintain their fitness during Spring Break put themselves at risk for injury.
Team Apparel
Team apparel will be available for purchase. Apparel is not mandatory and is entirely optional. Order information and prices will be sent out early in the season.
Uniforms
Each athlete will be issued a set of track sweats and a uniform. The athlete is responsible for keeping track of and taking care of their clothing for the duration of the season. Sweats and uniforms are not to be worn during the school day. Sweats may be worn at practice and at meets. Uniforms are to be worn at meets only. Failure to return sweats or uniforms at the end of the season will result in a fine. Make sure you have a good pair of running shoes, this will prevent injuries from occurring. Track spikes are optional.

Meet Order of Events
Every member of the team will participate in the first four meets, typically lasting three hours, as long as they are in good standing academically. The final three meets are limited entry meets, meaning only the top three individuals in each event will compete. We will cut down rosters to only those going to the final three meets. An athlete must be available to attend all three limited entry meets to continue on with the team.
