Empowered to lead

Good Morning Cavalier Families,

We had a fantastic first week of school! Our students arrived eager to learn, and it was wonderful to see them practicing their routines as they build positive connections with teachers and classmates. Throughout the week, students actively reviewed and discussed the Leader in Me habits, setting a strong foundation for personal and academic growth. They also practiced their B.O.L.T. behaviors and reviewed how it looks in various locations in our school, showing that they are committed to making Dayton Creek a great place to learn.  We are proud of how well the week went and grateful for the hard work of our amazing DCES staff and the unwavering support from our families!

As we settle in our routines, we appreciate everyone’s patience in the car line during the first few weeks of school. Kindly review the following dismissal reminders to improve the efficiency of the process and ensure safety for all.

Car Rider Dismissal Reminders

  • Grades 3–5: Exit through the front doors.

  • Kindergarten–2nd grade: Exit through their classroom pod doors.

  • Here’s the link to the DCES Traffic Flow Guide  for your reference.

Car Tags

  • Please hang your car tag from your rearview mirror so the number is clearly visible.

  • If you cannot hang it, hold it up for our staff to see.

  • If someone else is picking up your child, they may write the number on a piece of paper and display it.

Car Line Flow

  • Please continue to pull forward, unless directed to stop. Staff will direct you with the universal “keep going” sign.

  • Staff will assist your child with entering the car.

  • Please avoid leaving large gaps between cars to help us maintain an efficient process and avoid delay.

  • Remaining in your car helps keep traffic moving. If you need assistance, signal a staff member walking by and we’d gladly help you.

Safety Reminders

  • If your child needs help buckling, pull into the parking lot or drive forward near the west door exit (past the fire hydrant) before safely assisting your child.

  • Students should always enter/exit from the passenger side for safety.

  • If you choose to park and walk up, please use the crosswalk.

Thank you so much for your cooperation in helping dismissal run smoothly and safely for all Cavaliers!
