The Spring Hill Board of Education convened its regular meeting Monday, swearing in newly elected members, reorganizing board leadership and taking action on district operations, bond projects and facility improvements.
Board reorganization
Ted Beauchamp, Autumn Coleman-Marconett and Steve Miller were sworn in as newly elected board members at the start of the meeting.
Following the oath of office, the board elected officers for the year. April Horne was elected president and Steve Miller was elected vice president. After officer elections, the newly seated leadership conducted the remainder of the meeting.
Board members present were Anna Baker, April Horne, Doug Hull, Jon Chitwood, Autumn Coleman-Marconett, Steve Miller and Ted Beauchamp.
Organizational actions
The board approved Resolution 26.09, postponing most organizational items until July 2026, as permitted by Kansas statute. The resolution allows the district to complete select appointments required in January while aligning remaining organizational actions with the district’s annual planning cycle.
Consent agenda
The board approved a consent agenda that included:
Minutes from the December work session and regular meeting
Personnel appointments and resignations
Treasurer’s and clerk’s reports
Payroll and claims
Renewals of instructional and student support subscriptions
Acceptance of grant funding, including Carl D. Perkins Reserve Grants and Spring Hill Education Foundation grants
Approval of memorandums of understanding and program renewals
Bond 2025 elementary December pay applications
Approval of a Spring Hill High School FFA student trip
All consent agenda items were approved by a unanimous vote of members present.
Good News, Recognitions, and Announcements
The board recognized Judy Mason, a paraprofessional at Woodland Spring Middle School, as a Core Value Award recipient for contributions in world-class staff, student success and a supportive learning environment.
Bond and facilities discussion
District administrators provided an update on 2025 bond-funded elementary projects, including construction progress and weekly reporting.
The board also reviewed HVAC recommendations for Spring Hill Elementary School, Spring Hill Early Learning Academy and Spring Hill Middle School, as well as furniture proposals for elementary additions. Additional discussion items included survey and schematic design work for the Career and Technical Education and commons expansion at Spring Hill High School.
Following discussion, the board approved HVAC recommendations for the identified facilities.

Finance update
Nathan Holder reported that district revenues and expenditures are generally tracking as expected for this point in the fiscal year, with some budget areas coming in under projections while others reflect higher-than-anticipated costs. Holder noted these variances are typical midyear and are being monitored closely by the administration.
Overall, Holder expressed confidence in the district’s financial position, emphasizing that the budget remains stable and manageable as the district balances operational needs, staffing and bond-related obligations while continuing long-term financial planning.
Superintendent’s report
Superintendent Dr. Link Luttrell reported that the second semester had begun smoothly across the district and shared information on upcoming meetings with Johnson County legislators in Topeka.
