Spring Hill High School earns U.S. News & World Report ‘Best High Schools’ recognition, ranks No. 17 in Kansas
Spring Hill High School is celebrating a new honor after being named one of the best high schools in Kansas, ranking No. 17 in the state and placing among the top schools in the nation in the latest U.S. News & World Report rankings.
SPRING HILL, Kan. — Spring Hill High School has been named one of the U.S. News & World Report Best High Schools, ranking No. 17 in Kansas in the 2025 listings. Out of nearly 24,000 public high schools evaluated nationwide, U.S. News ranked about 18,000 overall, including 293 in Kansas.
Spring Hill High School placed in the top 18 percent nationally and the top 5 percent in Kansas.
The rankings evaluate schools across six performance categories:
College readiness, based on participation and performance in AP/IB programs
State assessment proficiency in core academic subjects
Underserved student performance, measuring outcomes for historically underrepresented students
Graduation rate
College curriculum breadth, reflecting the diversity of advanced coursework offered
Performance relative to expectations, based on predicted outcomes considering student demographics
“This achievement reflects an aligned and dedicated effort to increase rigor, expand dual-credit and AP course offerings, and improve ACT performance,” said Superintendent Dr. Link Luttrell. “The return on investment is clear — USD 230 students are thriving. Congratulations to our students, staff, families and community. This success belongs to all of us.”
Spring Hill High School Principal Kyle Kost said the ranking reflects the dedication of the school community.
“This achievement is a direct reflection of the hard work, dedication and resilience of our students, teachers and staff,” Kost said. “Their commitment to excellence continues to raise the bar and inspire our entire school community.”
Dr. Erin Smith, executive director of schools and services, also emphasized the recognition.
“I’m incredibly proud of our students for engaging in AP courses and embracing academic challenges that prepare them for success beyond high school,” Smith said. “This recognition also reflects the dedication and talent of our outstanding teachers, who inspire and support our students every day.”
This honor underscores Spring Hill Schools’ ongoing commitment to academic excellence and supports the district’s vision of preparing every student to achieve world-class success.
