Cavaliers in Action: February 17-21, 2025

Good Morning Cavalier Families,

Thank you so much for your participation in our parent-teacher conferences! Your flexibility and patience have been invaluable as we work to reschedule the missed conferences due to Wednesday’s class cancellation. We are grateful for the opportunity to connect with you and we look forward to continuing our collaboration to support our Cavaliers’ growth and success.

Moreover,  thank you to all our parents, room parents/volunteers, and the PTO for their time, support, and creativity in making our Valentine’s Day parties such a success! Your efforts truly made the day special for our students.

DCES Important Dates

Week of Feb 17-21

Random Act of Kindness: Make Kindness the Norm

As part of Random Acts of Kindness Week, our students will be creating a Kindness Path right inside our school! Each grade level will write positive messages and draw uplifting images and then  display them in our hallways to spread encouragement and positivity.

In addition, our Student Lighthouse Team will take the lead in organizing daily action-oriented kindness challenges. These challenges will encourage everyone to practice kindness in meaningful ways!

Here are some examples of what our students may be doing:

  •  Leave anonymous kind notes for others to find.

  • Practice active listening by engaging in meaningful conversations with friends, family, or classmates.

  • Give sincere compliments throughout the day.

  • Show appreciation through acts of service—help a teacher or classmate, clean up a shared space, write a thank-you note, or simply smile at everyone you pass in the halls.

Let’s spread kindness together and make a lasting impact!  #KindnessMatters

Internet Safety Lessons (Only 3rd-5th Grade Classes)

Mrs. Katie Cox, Mrs. Robertson's long-term counseling substitute, will be collaborating with the Spring Hill District Resource Officers, Deputy Pechnick, Deputy Ramos, and Deputy Brown, to deliver Internet Safety Lessons to each class in February and March 2025. For your reference, here is a link to the designated resource, Netsmartz, which will be utilized during these instructional sessions. Furthermore, parents can access several supplementary resources on the website.

While the lessons are thoughtfully tailored to the age appropriateness of the students, we acknowledge the sensitivity of the topic for some children. Should you wish to opt your child out of this lesson, kindly communicate your preference by emailing Mrs. Cox at coxkat@usd230.org, Dr. Miller at millerthe@usd230.org, and/or your child's classroom teacher. Additionally, parents are also welcome to attend these classroom lessons. Should you wish to participate, kindly contact Mrs. Cox or  your child's classroom teacher. Please feel free to reach out if you have any further inquiries or concerns.
