Cavaliers in Action: October 21-25, 2024

Good Morning Cavalier Families, 

We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to all the parents and guardians who joined us for Parent-Teacher Conferences this past week. We are thrilled to share that we had about a 95% participation rate! It was a joy to connect with you, celebrate your child's achievements, and discuss ways to continue supporting their growth throughout the year. Your involvement and partnership are crucial to their success, and we are grateful to have such a supportive community here at DCES!

 

For those who were unable to attend, we encourage you to reach out to your child’s teacher to arrange a time to connect. Whether by phone, email, or in person, we want to ensure every family has the opportunity to discuss their child’s progress and next steps for growth.

 

Together, we will continue to foster #GRITforGROWTH and help every student thrive! Thank you for being an important part of our school community.

 

DCES Important Dates 

 

Week of Oct. 21-25

  • Tuesday, Oct. 22: 4th Grade Field Trip

  • Wednesday, Oct. 23:  PLC Day (1-HR Late Start) 

  • Thursday, Oct. 24: 2nd Grade Music Program at 6:30 PM

  • Friday, Oct. 25: 

    • Q1 Report cards will be sent home 

    • LIM Awards Assembly for Habit #2: Begin With the End in Mind

    • 2nd Grade Field Trip

    • SHHS Broncos Players will visit DCES in the morning 

    • Deadline of October Standing Ovation Nomination Form: If you’ve experienced an employee going above and beyond for you, a student, a parent, a peer, or a community member, please help us recognize that employee by completing the  2024-25 Standing Ovation Nomination form.

 

Week of Oct. 28-Nov 1: Red Ribbon Spirit Week 

  • Wednesday, Oct. 30: 

    • PLC Day (1-HR Late Start) 

    • Picture Retakes

  • Thursday, Oct. 31: Fall Parties and Costume Parade: If you are planning to be a volunteer, please take a moment to review and complete the volunteer registration here. Please take note of the following reminders about our fall parties and costume parade. 

    • Students will not wear costumes to school. They will change into them before their party. No play weapons, blood or gore, please.

    • Classroom Party Volunteers: Please  check in at the office to get your special volunteer name badge. Volunteers may come in at 1:45 to set up for their class party. Fall parties begin at 2:00. 

    • Parents or family members are welcome to observe our costume parade. To do so, kindly sign in at the front office and get a visitor sticker. Guests may begin coming into the gym at 2:30. 

    • The parade will begin right at 2:50 in our gym. The students will do one lap around the gym and then head back to their classrooms for dismissal.

 

Week of Nov. 4-8:  Book Fair Week

  • Monday, Nov 4:  Book Fair Family Night & Fundraiser Orders Pick Up Night 

  • Tuesday, Nov. 5: 4th Grade Field Trip

  • Wednesday, Nov. 6:  PLC Day (1-HR Late Start) 

  • Thursday, Nov. 7: PTO Meeting at 6:30 PM

 

Week of Nov. 11-15

  • Monday, Nov. 11: Veterans Day Program (8:00-8:30 AM, Gym) Join us for a special school program to honor our veterans in lieu of a parade. We invite all veterans from our DCES community to attend and celebrate this meaningful occasion with us.

  • Tuesday, Nov. 12: 3rd Grade Field Trip

  • Wednesday, Nov. 13 PLC Day (1-HR Late Start) 

  • Thursday, Nov. 14: 5th Grade Music Program @ 6:30 PM

  • Friday, Nov. 15: Family Multicultural Night (5:30-6:30 PM)

DCES PTO NEWS: 

  • Fall Fundraising Update on Total Profit (including online, paper, and donation)

    • $12,419.80 (approximately $2,000 INCREASE from last year!) 

    • Top Seller: Jackson Wilson gets to silly string Dr. Miller!

    • Top Selling Class: Mrs. Brazeal's class gets to have a giant marshmallow dodgeball party!

    • 126 students earned the ice cream party (Nov. 5) 

    • 80 students earned the movie and popcorn party (Nov 21) 

    • 61 students earned the field trip to Club Run & Jump (Dec 6)

    • Emails will be sent for each prize experience to the families whose students earned each prize. Please stay tuned!

  • Fundraising Order Pick up on Monday, Nov. 4th. Please remember that all items must be picked up by 8 PM that evening, as many items are perishable and we do not have the capacity to store frozen items. If you are unable to make it, feel free to send a friend or neighbor to collect your items—just ensure they are picked up by 8 PM that night. Thank you for your understanding!
