BOE Meeting Recap, 02/27/2023
The Spring Hill Schools Board of Education met February 27, 2023 at Timber Sage Elementary for the school’s morning meeting and to discuss several items. The following are some important highlights from the meeting:
TSES Building Presentation
Timber Sage Elementary Principal Meka Bauer, along with several TSES staff, shared information with the Board about the school’s Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) work. View the presented building information on BoardDocs.
2024-25 Calendar
Superintendent Dr. Link Luttrell discussed two options for the 2024-25 calendar with the Board. The calendar options were sent to staff and families via survey with the results showing a 64.5% (513/795) preference for Option 2. The recommendation was to approve Option 2 for the 2024-25 district calendar.

District Safety
At the 2/13 meeting, Superintendent Dr. Link Luttrell discussed district safety and CENTEGIX™'s CrisisAlert™ product. The Board further discussed the system and the proposed cost for the five school years from 2023-24 through 2027-28 which would be a total of $575,950. The Board asked for anecdotal data from Blue Valley Schools and Olathe Public Schools, who both currently use the system.

Good News, Recognitions, & Announcements
Timber Sage Principal Meka Bauer recognized two staff with a Core Values Award: Jamie Gabel with a Core Values Award for Supportive Environment and Laura Rickabaugh with a Core Values Award for Supportive Environment.
PLC Survey Results
At the 2/13 meeting, Director of Teaching & Learning Dr. Erin Smith and Assistant Superintendent Dr. Joshua Robinson provided insight from the Professional Learning Communities (PLC) survey to the Board. A stakeholder group consisting of parents and staff met to discuss the positives and challenges of different PLC structures. The recommendation was to have all PLC work occur with a late start before school on Wednesday mornings, effective 2023-24 school year.
