The Spring Hill Schools Board of Education met November 14, 2022 at the District Administrative Center to discuss several items. The following are some important highlights from the meeting:
Audit Report
Sean Gordon with GordonCPA presented an audit report to the Board. The district is required by law to have an independent audit done on an annual basis. FSMS Principal
The Board approved the contract of Darcy Sly for the position of Forest Spring Middle Principal with a 7-0 vote. FSMS will open for the 2023-24 school year. For additional information, please visit the Sly Named Principal of Forest Spring Middle article.
Good News, Recognitions, & Announcements
Superintendent Dr. Link Luttrell shared a What’s Going Well at SHELA? video with the Board:
Spring Hill Elementary Principal Tammy Endecott recognized two SHES teachers with a Core Values Award: Lucy Mohler with a Core Values Award for Supportive Environment and Mary Chamberlin with a Core Values Award for Student Success.
Dr. Luttrell also recognized Danny Hodge for his 2023 Horizon Award honors and Jamie Wyse for her 2024 Kansas Teacher of the Year honors.
Public Participation
One individual spoke during the public participation of the 11/14 meeting. The topic covered included an apartment complex plan near PCES and WSMS. View the meeting’s public participation.
Student Achievement Update - Spring 2022 Assessments
Director of Teaching & Learning Dr. Erin Smith presented another update on the district’s student achievement from the Spring 2022 Kansas State Assessments to the Board. The presentation broke out the district’s brick & mortar assessment results compared to the virtual school results and shared the district’s next steps. View the presented information on BoardDocs.
SHHS Activity Request
Spring Hill High Orchestra Director Taygun Ozakinci presented to the Board about an upcoming opportunity. The group discussed the SHHS Orchestra and Jazz Band attending a competition in Winter Park, CO. The discussion will come back as an action item at a future meeting.
