BOE Meeting Recap, 10/24/2022

The Spring Hill Schools Board of Education met October 24, 2022 at Spring Hill Early Learning Academy for the school’s morning meeting and to discuss several items. The following are some important highlights from the meeting:

SHELA Building Presentation

Spring Hill Early Learning Academy Principal Stephanie Barnhill, along with several SHELA staff, shared information with the Board about the school’s emPowered by S.T.E.A.M. theme. The presentation also included a progress update on SHELA’s social-emotional learning with Second Step, the instructional resource adopted last April. Good News, Recognitions, & Announcements

DCES Principal Darcy Sly recognized Melanie Golubski, teacher at Dayton Creek Elementary, with a Core Values Award for Supportive Environment.

Dr. Luttrell also recognized Director of Communication & Engagement Dr. Christopher Villarreal for his recently announced Kansas School Public Relations Association (KanSPRA) Newcomer of the Year award.

Student Achievement Update - Spring 2022 Assessments

Director of Teaching & Learning Dr. Erin Smith presented an update on the district’s student achievement from the Spring 2022 Kansas State Assessments to the Board.
