  • Mrs. Gissel McDonald, a teacher at Spring Hill High School, was honored with the 2025 Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) Captain Award for her leadership and dedication to mentoring students.

  • The wrestling team achieved major milestones at the Kansas State Wrestling Championships, with Campbell Mermis making history as Spring Hill High School’s first female state champion.

  • The girls’ basketball team advanced to the state tournament, demonstrating exceptional performance.

  • The Spring Hill Education Foundation’s inaugural Mardi Gras gala successfully raised significant funds for classrooms and teachers.

Spring Hill Recreation Board Openings

Spring Hill Recreation Director Mr. Brian Peel discussed two Spring Hill Recreation Commission vacancies, detailing its structure, appointment process, and the need for geographical representation.

Enrollment Analysis and Growth Projections

Rob Schwartz from RSP & Associates presented an enrollment analysis, highlighting continued student growth and expanding housing developments, particularly in the northern district. The board reviewed potential impacts on school capacity and future planning.

School Safety Initiatives

Mr. Marc Williams introduced new safety measures for Spring Hill High School, including:

  • Implementing the use of drug-sniffing dogs.

  • Installing vape and sound detectors in restrooms.

  • Planning drug awareness education programs for students.

Facility Updates and Equipment Approvals

The board approved several facility-related initiatives, including:

  • LED lighting upgrades.

  • A mower replacement.

  • ROI Energy's proposal to upgrade all old lighting technology to newer LED lighting technology at both the Early Childhood Center and Spring Hill Middle School.

  • Professional Turf Products’ proposal for the Groundsmaster 7210 mower plus accessories.
    (Cost = $53,035.79)

Other action/discussion items:

  • Mr. Williams will implement drug-sniffing dogs and install vape detectors at Spring Hill High School.

  • A Fentanyl awareness presentation for students is scheduled for April 12.

  • Mr. Kyley Delphia will conduct air quality testing at Spring Hill Middle and Elementary schools in mid-April.

  • Dr. Luttrell will organize town hall meetings for the bond campaign on April 3 and 22.

  • The administration will provide semester updates on the implementation of safety measures.
