Fanning Named Principal of Spring Hill Early Learning Academy, 03/27/2024

Shannon Fanning smilingThe Spring Hill Schools Board of Education approved Shannon Fanning as the Spring Hill Early Learning Academy principal for the 2024-25 school year.

“As the next step in my professional journey, I couldn’t be more excited to join the Spring Hill Schools team,” said Fanning. “I am excited to partner with such a distinguished district, and I am looking forward to getting to know the community, staff, families and students at SHELA!”

Fanning is currently serving as the principal for Ottawa Middle School. She has spent a total of 25 years in education, holding other positions which included special education coordinator and elementary principal in Ottawa USD 290.

In 1999, Fanning earned her bachelor's degree in elementary education from Kansas State University. In 2007, she earned her master’s degree in educational administration from Emporia State University. In 2021, Fanning earned her educational system leadership certificate from Pittsburg State University.

In January 2024, current SHELA Principal Stephanie Barnhill informed the Board of her intent to retire at the conclusion of the 2023-24 school year.
