The partial eclipse will commence at 12:37 p.m. and extend until 3:11 p.m. It will reach its peak at 1:54 p.m., when 90.7% of the sun's surface will be eclipsed by the moon.

We fondly remember our participation in the near-total solar eclipse on August 21, 2017, which reached 99.4% totality. While the 2024 event may not be as complete, the opportunity is a rare one with the next chance to witness a total solar eclipse from the United States not arising again until August 23, 2044.

To ensure the safety of all participants, solar eclipse viewing glasses will be provided for every student and staff member within Spring Hill Schools. It is imperative to adhere to proper eye safety measures during solar eclipses. Looking directly at the sun without specialized eye protection designed for solar viewing is unsafe.

Please log on to Skyward here and complete the “2024 Solar Eclipse Permission Form'' for your student(s) by Sunday, March 24. This form can be found under “Online Forms” located in the left-hand menu. Please note that the Spring Hill Early Learning Academy will not be participating in the event as a building.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your student’s school directly. If you have questions about the solar eclipse, please refer to NASA’s 2024 Total Solar Eclipse.
