School Year
Today marks the completion of Day 85 in the 2024-25 school year along with the conclusion of our First Semester. We have been fortunate to make it through our first semester without having to miss any days due to inclement weather. I had intended to write in this edition of “Link’d in” the protocols associated with any decision that involves the possible cancellation of classes due to weather. However, I do not want to ‘jinx’ our good luck thus far so I’ll delay outlining some of those protocols until early 2025.
In the interim, whether classes need to be canceled or not, it is always vital for parents to include within the online student portal, Skyward family access, the correct contact information for which they want communications/notifications sent when there is a need to send a message about not only a school closing but any other pertinent information. If you need contact information updated, please contact your school upon students returning to school on Monday, January 6, 2025.
Visioning/Managing Growth Community Engagement Sessions
The recommendation from the Vision/Managing Growth Community Engagement Committee that met throughout this past fall will be formally presented to the Board of Education for discussion on Monday, January 12th, 2025 at 6 p.m. during the regular scheduled meeting.
Following discussion on 1/13/25, the recommendation may then be advanced to a formal ‘action’ item for the BOE meeting slated for Monday, 1/27/25. Stay Tuned.

Noteworthy
The past few weeks, I’ve attended MANY holiday music programs at all levels, and ALL have been amazing! The Christmas Holiday Season is a definite favorite of mine, but I’ll admit that I can be a bit of a Scrooge at times. However, the array of student programs this time of year rockets me into the full Holiday Spirit! For your enjoyment, our Spring Hill Schools Communications Department has compiled a sampling of the many holiday programs and events our students have participated in during the past week. As we head into the holidays, I want to wish everyone a Happy, Healthy, and Safe Holiday Season. I also want to express my heartfelt appreciation to our students, families, and staff for their dedication and contributions to helping make Spring Hill Schools truly a Great Place to Learn!
Joke of the Week
Q: How does Santa keep from getting sick around the holidays?
A: He uses Hand “Santa”-tizer. (Get it, hand Sanitizer..’..ha).
As we head into the holidays I want to wish everyone a Happy, Healthy, and Safe Holiday Season. I also want to express my heartfelt appreciation to our students, families, and staff for their dedication and contributions to helping make Spring Hill Schools a Truly Great Place to Learn!
With a new calendar year approaching, I encourage everyone to take some time to reflect on past successes and set intentions for positive growth as we move forward together.
Having been part of USD 230 for the past 2.5 years, I remain incredibly proud of what we have achieved as a school community. Together, we continue to take meaningful steps to ensure that our growth is managed thoughtfully without compromising the high-quality programming and services we provide to our students. Truly appreciate the opportunity to serve daily as Superintendent.
Please note that winter break begins on Monday, December 23rd. We look forward to welcoming students back for the second half of the school year on Monday, January 6th, 2025.
I hope your holidays are filled with joy, laughter, and plenty of cookies—enough to make those January gym plans truly worth it! Enjoy this special time to relax with family and friends.
Happy Holidays
