Notes from the Superintendent, 11/8/2024

School Year

Today marks the completion of Day 60 in the 2024-25 school year, and the calendar has turned to November. Fortunately, our weather thus far has been very nice, but the months that Mother Nature may choose to bring the winter elements that sometimes lead to a decision to cancel school are also looming. My next edition of “Link’d in” will delve into the many protocols involved with making an ‘inclement weather day’ decision and the methods used to communicate with staff and families.

Bond Meeting

Visioning/Managing Growth Community Engagement Sessions

This past Tuesday, we held our most recent meeting of the Managing Growth Community Engagement Committee. At this session, cost estimates were provided for the many ideas referenced in earlier meeting discussions. Participants worked in groups to create their own prioritized ‘Build-A-Bond’ proposal based on the amount of funds/dollars that would be available.

The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 13, at 6:00 p.m. at the District Administration Center. The main objective will be for the committee to agree upon a ‘Build-A-Bond’ proposal that can then be presented to the Board of Education for their consideration.

FD Coat Drive

Eighth Annual Coat Drive

A huge thank you to Fire District #1 of Johnson County, KS for their incredible donation of 80 BRAND-NEW coats for Spring Hill students! This marks the eighth year that our local firefighters have been collecting coats to support local kids, and this year’s effort was nothing short of inspiring. The collection took place in late October at the Gardner Walmart, where the fire truck was parked, to raise even more awareness for the cause.
