Art Students Raise Funds for Always and Furever, 04/26/2022
On Monday, April 25, Mrs. Victoria, a volunteer from the Spring Hill animal sanctuary Always and Furever, visited WSMS. Mrs. Victoria spent the morning in Mrs. Gazzano's art classes. Students learned about the mission of Always and Furever, and about the dogs and cats that are currently in their care. Students were also introduced to volunteer opportunities that are currently available at the sanctuary for teens such as walking the dogs and afternoon treat dates. The dogs love ice cream and hamburgers!
After learning about all of the animals, students "adopted" a dog or cat to create a pet portrait. Photographs of the animals were displayed on Mrs. Gazzano’s whiteboard and students claimed their pets. Over the next week, students will choose a medium (pencil, charcoal, oil pastels, paint, etc.) and replicate the portrait. The portraits will be available for sale at WSMS's May 12th art show (details coming soon). All proceeds will be donated to the Always and Furever's Little Red Barn here in Spring Hill.
Mrs. Gazzano’s publication students put their interview skills into practice and produced a video featuring Mrs. Victoria and Always and Furever. The video will be shared with students and be highlighted at the upcoming art show.
