Recognizing Mrs. Wells - WSMS's Counselor, 02/10/2022

All across the nation, schools are celebrating their counselors. In this week’s feature article, we would like to spotlight Woodland Spring’s very own Mrs. Amy Wells. Mrs. Wells joined the WSMS staff family in August, 2021, and we are so very excited to share a little about our wonderful counselor with all of you.

Mrs. Wells was born in Oklahoma and grew up in Hugoton, Kansas. She attended college in Lake Charles, Louisiana at McNeese State University. She began her career as an elementary teacher and then her fourth year of teaching moved to middle school where she taught 6th grade teacher language arts and social studies. Mrs. Wells also taught reading to students in grades 6-8 before becoming a school counselor. “The thing I love the most about this job is working with the kids and building relationships,” stated Mrs. Wells.

Mrs. Wells and her husband of 15 years have two daughters. Kaydence, who is 10 years old, and Makynna, 6, both attend Dayton Creek elementary in the Spring Hill school district.  The Wells family enjoys the company of their miniature schnauzer, Bear.

When asked about her dreams for the future, Mrs. Wells stated that she wants to see her girls grow up to be successful in both school and life.

Fun Fact: Mrs. Wells was crowned the 2001 Miss Mayhaw Festival Queen in Louisiana.  The mayhaw is a berry that grows in the swamps of Louisiana and makes a very tasty jelly.
