2023 Football & Volleyball Highlights, 10/27/2023
Although the fall sports seasons have come to an end, we didn’t want to let time slip too far away without acknowledging our football and volleyball teams’ incredible seasons. We are so incredibly proud of our athletes both on and off the field/court.
Our 8th grade football team went undefeated this year, winning the school’s first league championship title! One of the team’s proudest accomplishments was pulling out a 14 point win over rival Eudora. The Stallions fell to Eudora in the championship game last season. "This 8th grade group has been a lot of fun to coach,” expressed Coach Pipkin. “They are extremely talented and have a lot of love for the game, as well as their teammates. I am excited to see their development with our high school program."
The 7th grade Stallions finished second in the league after a heartbreaking loss on the final play of the game. This team displayed grit and determination all season long. They never backed down from any challenge presented to them. "I am very excited to see what this group is able to achieve next season. I was really happy with the development throughout the season and the way the group has responded to a tough loss to end the season. They are hungry to get back to the championship game and avenge their loss to Forest Spring,” stated Coach Pipkin.
The volleyball season proved to be just as triumphant. Seventh grade JV took 3rd at the league tournament out of 10 teams. They showed a lot of growth and improvement throughout the season. Many of the girls had not played volleyball prior to this school year. They worked hard each day in practice and were eager to learn and improve.
Seventh grade varsity finished 4th at the league tournament. A highlight for these Stallions was finishing 1st in the Eudora Invitational tournament. Eudora came out on top in the league so beating them at their home tournament was a huge win. They continually improved throughout the season and were extremely coachable, ready to learn and improve each day at practice. “I am excited to see what they can do next year, beamed Coach VonStein.”
Both the Stallion 8th grade JV and Varsity teams went undefeated again this year and were league champions! These teams went undefeated as both 7th and 8th graders. What an amazing accomplishment for these girls! The Varsity team also won the Eudora Invitational Tournament. “We beat a very good Eudora team in the championship game in a tight 3 set game. We met up with Eudora again in the league championship game and won in another tight 3 set victory,” reported Coach Von Stein. “These girls are very talented, and they were a lot of fun to work with. They were very selfless and put the team's needs ahead of their own to help our team be successful.” When asked about what she enjoyed most about coaching these girls, Coach Von Stein replied, “Coaching these girls is the highlight of my day, they are a great group of kids that are fun to work with. I am excited to work with our 7th graders again next year and see all the great things our 8th graders can accomplish in high school.”
Congratulations to all of our fall athletes on fantastic seasons!
