Students in Ms. Miller’s Kansas History and We the People classes spent Friday, December 17th, analyzing primary sources and listening to Julie Clover from the Dole Institute of Politics at Kansas University in Lawrence. Mrs. Clover is public education coordinator for the Dole Institute.
7th graders in Kansas History learned about Senator Bob Dole and the Americans with Disabilities Act before examining the primary documents the speaker brought. Mrs. Clover informed the 7th and 8th grade students in We the People about Senator Dole and the 26th amendment establishing the voting age. After examining primary sources, students held a debate over the voting age.
Ms. Miller was thrilled to see all of her students applying the knowledge from the semester to the resources provided. Mrs. Clover extended an open invitation to all the students to visit the Dole Institute at KU. Admission is free for all visitors.
