SHMS held its annual spelling bee on December 6th. Logan Durham walked away the champion after defeating 14 other students in a competition held in the auditorium during Advisory. The winning word was ‘technique’.  Logan now advances to the Johnson county spelling bee which will be held on January 29th at Woodland Springs Middle School.  

SHMS Spelling bee runner up is Kaden Eubanks. He will be the alternate speller if Durham can not attend the Johnson county spelling bee.

Students interested in participating in the spelling bee first take a grade level spelling test. The top five scoring spellers from each grade advance to the school-wide bee.
