MacBook Turn In Slated for Monday, May 22nd, 05/12/2023

On Monday, May 22nd, all students will turn in their technology for the year. During Healthy Living classes, students will relinquish MacBooks and chargers for the last time as secondary schools in USD230 will be switching to iPads for the 2023-2024 school year.

In preparation for check in, there are a few actions students need to take to be sure all their files are ready and accessible for next year.

1. Clean out old files. Old assignments are just that - old. Students should go into Google Drive and delete any files created for classes from previous years. On the MacBook, students should review all files on their desktop, in Downloads, and in Documents to delete anything not needed or wanted for next year. Once files are deleted, the student needs to empty their Trash by clicking on the icon and selecting Empty Trash.

2. Move all files from the MacBook to Google Drive. Once students have their Google Drive cleaned up, and unnecessary files deleted from their account, they need to upload all remaining files left on the MacBook to their Google Drive. The simplest way to do this is to create a new folder named 22-23 on the MacBook desktop and drag all files left on the MacBook into this folder. In Drive, students will select New > File Upload and upload the 22-23 folder. Once that is complete, students may delete the 22-23 folder from their MacBook’s desktop. Don’t forget to empty the trash!

3. Have the Macbook fully charged for check-in. As part of the check-in process, students will need to log on to their device. A staff member will visually inspect each computer and record any functionality and/or hardware  issues.

Note: In order to expedite the check-in process, students have been asked to report any tech issues to the school librarian leading up to the check-in process.
