Dodgeball Fundraiser a Solid Venture!, 03/28/2023

Last week saw teams competing in the SHMS annual dodgeball tournament! Participation is voluntary. Grade-level teams have ten players and each player pays $10 to participate. Teams registered before Spring Break.

The action began after school on Tuesday, March 21st with the 6th grade double elimination tournament. Wednesday, March 22nd had 7th graders competing after school and 8th graders wrapped up the preliminary rounds on Thursday the 23rd. The winning team from each grade level earned the right to play in the championship bracket at the all-school assembly on Friday, March 24th. Those teams were: 8th grade - Ballz of Fury, 7th grade - VARD, and 6th grade - The Average Joes. The staff dodgeball team - The DodgeFather - rounded out the participants for Friday's showdown.

And this year’s winner? VARD! The 7th grade team defeated the sixth and eighth grade teams to take home the title. 6th grade won 2nd place with SHMS staff taking 3rd and 8th grade in 4th place.

Healthy Living instructor, Jill Thimesch, feels this is a “fun opportunity for both students and staff to play and benefit a great cause.” Monies raised in the tournament are used to fund new equipment for the Healthy Living program. This year’s tournament raised over $1500.
