Warm sunny days are helping keep math 8 students engaged. Last week, Mr. Carpenter took his math 8 classes to the football field to practice Pythagorean’s theorem. Pythagorean’s Theorem states that the sum of the squares of the legs on a right triangle is equal to the square of the hypotenuse!
The players measured the distance from their starting point to where they caught the ball (the catching point) and the distance from the starting point to the quarterback (Mr. Carpenter) to calculate the distance the football traveled. Each student caught a pass and had to determine the hypotenuse of their own triangle.
