Broadcasting Interviews for the Win!; 02/27/2025

In this class we recently have been so lucky and have interviewed some very important people. We would like to share with everyone who all we have interviewed in the 2024-2025 school year.

Our first interview was with Trevor Kieboom. He is a sports agent for the ACES Inc. Baseball. He represents baseball players in many different types of negotiations. Interviewing him really taught us a lot more of what happens in the baseball leagues that we don’t normally see or hear about.

We also interviewed Will Brennan. He is a current MLB player for the Guardians. One of their most recent games was them playing against the New York Yankees. The score was 2-5, Yankees. Some background information about Will Brennan is that he played college ball at Kansas State University. Some of his 2024 stats were: around 87 hits, 30 RBI’s, 8 home runs, hitting average of .246, 114 games played, and 330 bats. He is an American baseball outfield player. From this interview we learned more about personal players and their background life.

We had so much fun getting to interview WSMS’s 6th grade ELA teacher and our very own broadcasting teacher, Cooper Allison! She is a retired NFL Chiefs cheerleader. Ms. Allison cheered for the Chiefs for 5 seasons. She also made 3 Super Bowl appearances. The Chiefs won all 3 of the Super Bowls she cheered in. Her favorite memory from cheering with the Chiefs was getting to go to Germany with a few of her teammates and coaches!

Our next interview was with BJ Kissel. He is a Kansas City Chiefs sports reporter. This was helpful for broadcasting, and helped us learn more about interviewing people and public speaking. He started to report in 2009 and was not getting paid. He got his degree at K-State and started to work his way up to where he is now. He was at K-State from 2014 to 2020. Now he has his own announcing and reporting program!

Another person we interviewed was Michaela Meyer. She is an athletic trainer for the Chiefs Cheerleading team. We were able to connect to her because she played a huge role in Cooper Allison’s time on the team. She went to Coe College and got a bachelor’s degree in athletic training. She has been the athletic trainer for the Chiefs for four seasons and is planning to continue. We had so much fun getting to interview Michaela, and learned so much about her life on and off the field. We also learned some amazing information about the Chiefs cheerleading team and how they deal with all of their injuries.

We are very lucky to have had the chance to interview Dante Hall. Dante Hall is a former NFL player and played for the Kansas City Chiefs. He played for the Chiefs for seven years before he was traded to the St. Louis Rams. Right now Dante Hall works with Sky Sports and markets the Kansas City Chiefs marketing trips. He was a great addition to the team and was one of the best wide receivers.

Lastly, we interviewed Mick Collins who is a neurologist and concussion specialist. He is the clinical and executive director of UPMC Sports Medicine concussion program. He went to Southern Maine University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and biology. He also went to Michigan State University and graduated with a masters degree in psychology and a doctorate in clinical psychology. We had so much fun getting to learn about concussions and how important sports safety is!

So far this year we have been so lucky for all of these amazing people we got to interview. We are extremely grateful and can not wait for the rest of the interviews that will be taking place this year. We have learned a lot from these big interviews and are ready to learn more! We have learned to come up with follow up questions quickly, public speaking, and so much more. These interviews help us get ready for the interviews we do here at our school. If there are students that are planning on growing their knowledge, and maybe want a career in interviews or anything having to do with broadcasting, they will be ready. We thank everyone we have interviewed and our great teacher, Miss. Allison. We are extremely grateful for these opportunities. Thank you for your time on reading this!
