10/28/22024 Notes from Mrs. Cooper

Our very important Halloween celebration is next week on the 31st! Weather permitting, the parade will be outside to accommodate all the guests who may want to come and watch the parade. The parade will begin at 2:55. Please feel free to park and walk around the building to join us on the playground. At the conclusion of the parade, you can head out front and your children will be dismissed as usual. If the weather does not allow us to be outside, the parade will be moved to the gym.

All transportation changes for the day need to be into the office by 2:00 on this day.  You can email dickenst@usd230.org  or kimmia@usd230.org anytime you need a transportation change.

Some reminders about costumes and parties:
  • Costumes must be appropriate for school.  Horror and gory costumes are not appropriate for school celebrations.  A good rule of thumb is to consider: if a five-year-old could be frightened by the costume, it is too scary for us.
  • Costumes and accessories resembling weapons or weapon look-alikes are prohibited at school.  This includes plastic knives, swords, guns, light sabers or any item that resembles a weapon.
  • Adults who are attending the parties or parade may not have masks or makeup obscuring their face.
  • If you are providing a treat or snack for the party and it is non-perishable, please send it asap.  Nurse Rene cross checks the party food for each classroom with food allergies and health needs.  She appreciates getting a head start on this task before party day.
We enjoyed seeing you last week for conferences. Now we head into another big week!
Have a great weekend!

Notes From PTO – Treats for Troops
We are so excited to announce that we are an official drop-off site for @SoldiersAngelsOfficial Treats for Troops program! This great program collects excess Halloween candy and ships it to deployed service members and hands it out to veterans in VA Hospitals across the country!

So—if you get stuck with those extra sweets, stop by the school, or send with the kids, from October 31- Nov 8.
