The Board approved the ESSER II application presented by Doug Schwinn, director of business and finance, which consisted of both a direct allocation based on Title I population and a true-up allocation. The true-up allocation was for districts such as Spring Hill with a low Title I population. It guarantees all districts will get a minimum of $300 per FTE (full-time equivalency) in funding. These funds will be used to reimburse the district for COVID-19 related expenditures during 2020-2021 and anticipated expenditures in 2021-2022.
The Board was presented survey results by Christopher Villarreal, director of communications and education engagement, regarding the middle school boundaries. The data showed Option 1 as favored by respondents which was the same recommended option from RSP & Associates, a planning consultant company for educational institutions.
The action item was tabled for the August 9 meeting for an additional survey to be sent out about Option 1B. The boundaries are the same as Option 1, however, Middle School #3 would open in 2023-2024 with ONLY grades 6 and 7. Students in grade 8 would complete middle school at their assignment from the 2022-2023 school year.
Please note that the boundaries will not go into effect until the 2023-24 school year.
The Board approved Superintendent Dr. Burke’s proposal for December 26 and December 31 to become paid holidays for classified staff. Click here for the updated Classified Handbook.
