Accountability Reports

KSDE Accountability Report LogoBeginning in the 2019-2020 academic year, the Kansas Department of Education (KSDE) is recognizing school districts for the Commissioner's Award, Academically Prepared for Postsecondary Success, Graduation Rate and Postsecondary Effectiveness.

These awards are given to districts as a whole, and represents all schools’ scores and data. For the Spring Hill School District, this includes the district’s virtual schools: Insight School of Kansas (grades 7-12) and Kansas Virtual Academy (grades K-6).

USD 230 was awarded a copper star in the category of being Academically Prepared for Post Secondary Success. “We are very proud to offer the best learning environments for all of the students in our district and some students across the state,” said Superintendent Dr. Wayne Burke.

“For Kansas to reach its vision of leading the world in the success of each student, systemic change is critical. We have to rethink the way we approach education in Kansas. That’s why you’ll see that the Kansas Education Systems Accreditation (KESA) model is based on districts creating and implementing a continuous process of improvement. The Kansans Can Star Awards help districts identify where they want to focus their efforts by providing a level of accountability for the work being done.” KANSANS CAN STAR RECOGNITION AND COMMISSIONER’S AWARD PROGRAM

While awards are given on the district level, each separate school’s data is also available. It is important to look at each individual school’s data in order to fully understand the district’s success. Spring Hill High School’s graduation rate is 95.4%, but when figured with the virtual school, the district-wide rate is 78.3%. The virtual school’s graduation rate for 2020-21 was 63.3%, but that doesn’t account for the fact that the virtual school is serving students across the state of Kansas, many of whom are at-risk. Insight has successfully graduated hundreds of students during its existence and provides an excellent alternative for Kansas students who are needing a setting other than their traditional brick and mortar school.
The Dayton Creek Elementary School Report is not yet available as this is its opening year.
