Assessment

Kansas State Assessments

The purpose of the Kansas State Assessment is to provide educators, parents, and policymakers with student performance information aligned to the Kansas College and Career Ready Standards. Assessed areas include:

  • English Language Arts: Grades 3-8 and 10

  • Mathematics: Grades 3-8 and 10

  • Science: Grades 5, 8, and 11

  • Social Studies: Grades 4, 7, and 11

Student scores can be used to help in the following ways:

  • Identify your student's areas of strength and opportunities for growth

  • Determine your student's progress toward meeting state curriculum standards.

Spring Hill School District curriculum is aligned to the Kansas College and Career Ready Standards. Local curriculum, instruction, and assessment is designed to support mastery of the standards and post-secondary success for all students.

FastBridge

FastBridge assessments are state-aligned computerized adaptive assessments that provide accurate, useful information about student achievement and growth.

The reading and math assessments provide information that can be used to identify the skills and concepts individual students have learned. Additionally, the assessments can be used to:

  • Diagnose instructional needs

  • Monitor academic growth over time

  • Make data-driven decisions at the classroom, school, and district levels

  • Place new students into appropriate instructional programs

The assessment itself is unique in that it adapts to the student's ability, accurately measuring what a child knows and needs to learn. In addition, the FastBridge assessments measure academic growth over time, independent of grade level or age. Most importantly, the results educators receive have practical application to teaching and learning.
