USD 230 BOE Meeting Recap

The Spring Hill School Board of Education held a special meeting on August 16, 2021 at the District Administrative Center to discuss updated, additional information regarding the Johnson County Board of County Commissioners Health Order No. 001-21.

Greg Goheen, MVP's lead attorney for the district, shared information in response to questions BOE member asked at the previous meeting. This information included topics such as defining "home rule," the process for adopting a resolution, potential consequences for not following the health order, the potential impact on the district and its employees, legal advice provided by the Kansas Association of School Boards, and information from the county counsel for Johnson County.

The BOE discussed this information and voted in favor of modifying the Face Mask Medical Exemption Request Form by adding the option for a parent/guardian to sign the medical exemption certification. Additionally, the BOE will also be working on a resolution to further support this modification.

The updated Face Mask Medical Exemption Request Form is now available on the USD 230 website.
