WCES Spelling Bee Winner and Alternate Announced

    After several rounds and a nail-biting race for runner-up, Elijah Nelson-Brantley was named the WCES Spelling Bee Champion for the 2016-2017 school year.  This is Elijaha's second championship.  He was runner-up his 3rd grade year; the first year he was able to compete.  Will Anderson, also a 5th grader, was runner-up and will serve as the alternate for the Johnson County Spelling Bee.  Special mention goes to Brooklan Ivans, who battled  eight rounds with Will to determine the 1st runner up.

Also participating in the spelling bee were: 

Lillian Baxter, Madeline Brittain, Reese Brittain, Katie Durham, Mone’t Edwards, Leah Flemming, Kylie Henson, Jasmine Hunt, Jentry Hunt, Lilly Hunt, Erika Hurt, Brooklan Ivans, Ramey Krokstrom, Katie Morris,  Calvin Pankewich, Miles Pankey, Jake Rainforth, Brooklyn Sherron, Colin Strait, Chase Talley, Lillian Toyne, and Gage Wingerter.
