Spring Hill School Closings

In the event the Spring Hill School District needs to close the school system or specific schools for any emergency reason, including bad weather, the announcements will be made via an Emergency Information Network organized by the area school districts, area radio, and television stations and area police departments.

There are two quick ways to check to see if school is closed for inclement weather. The information line (592-7272) will be posted with a voice message. In addition, the district's web site at www.usd230.org will carry the information.

The other way to receive notification is to listen to the radio/televisions stations listed below. The decision will generally be made by 6:00 a.m. with the announcement following shortly on the radio/television stations.

Parents have the option of choosing not to send their child to school if they believe travel is too hazardous.

Occasionally when the emergency is such that the decision may be made the night before, the announcement will be made the prior evening.

In the case of early dismissal after school is in session, we will work with parents as much as possible to assist in the safety of all students. Parents are advised to make prior plans with their children for such a situation.

Please do not call the schools or Board of Education office main phone for closing information. Instead, listen to these radio/television stations. The school district information line (592-7272) will usually carry emergency information. However, there may be emergency situations or weather conditions which prohibit school officials from recording such information on the information line.
