SAC Elections 2012-2013
Election forms are in the office if you are interested in running for a position as one of the officers for next year's SAC at SHMS. You must be a 7th grader and a student in good standing, grade average of "B" with no grades of "F". Completed forms are due in the office by April 10, 2012. Elections will be held on Monday, April 23, 2012.
SAC Spirit Week- February 21-24
Get ready to show your school spirit Mavericks! Wednesday, February 21st, is CRAZY HAIR DAY. Thursday the 22nd is TWIN DAY....or Triplets...quadruplets- You get the idea! Friday the 23rd is HAT DAY. Pay $1.00 to wear a hat. All funds collected will go towards medical expenses for a student at SHIS. Who's got spirit? Mavericks do!
Thanks Mavericks- We raised $200 for medical expenses on Hat Day during Spirit Week!
SAC Souper Bowl for Caring iPod/iPad, Kindle/Nook Day
Friday, February 3rd, SHMS students showed their team spirit by wearing their favorite sports team shirts to school as well as bringing a dollar to use their iPod/iPad, or Kindle/Nook during homeroom. All money was raised to benefit the Spring Hill Food Pantry for the Souper Bowl for Caring Campaign 2012. $250 will be donated to help Spring Hill families buy the perishable items they need to supplement the canned items from the food pantry. Way to go Mavericks!
SAC Sponsoring Two Christmas Families in Spring Hill
This year SHMS students raised enough money to sponsor two families for Christmas. Boxes full of gifts along with Food Gift Cards for the Spring Hill Price Chopper as well as money for Westar Electric to help pay the families electric bills over the winter were wrapped and delivered. Spring Hill SAC hopes that our gifts bring a little warmth and Christmas Cheer to the families. Merry Christmas to us all!
SAC Ugly Sweater Dance December 2, 2011
The SAC winter dance will be held Friday, December 2, 2011, from 7-9 PM for 7th and 8th grade students at SHMS in good standing. It promises to be a fun evening, so raid your folks closets for the ugliest sweater you can find. Let's start the holidays off with a smile!
Anti-Bullying Door Contest Winners
Check out the cool shirts for the door prize winners from Mrs. Sharp's 7th grade homeroom that were provided by our PTO. You guys look "sharp"!
SAC Bake Sale 11/15-18/11
Delicious baked goods will be sold at lunch during the week of November 15th through 18th. All proceeds will go towards our Spring Hill Christmas families.
Hats Off to Vets Day 10/28/11
Bring a dollar to wear a hat to school on Friday, October 28th. All proceeds will go to our local Spring Hill Veteran's group.
Neon-Glow SAC Dance 10/21/11
Over 175 students attended the SAC's 1st dance of the school year. Students wore neon bracelets, necklaces and more and danced the night away. Fun was had by all. Several students brought cans of food for the Spring Hill Food Pantry to the event. Over four boxes of food were donated to the pantry. Save the date for our next SAC dance which will be held on December 2nd.
National Mix-It-Up at Lunch Day 10/18/11
Continuing with our theme of using words of empowerment instead of negative name-calling, Spring Hill Middle School students Mixed-it-up at lunch today. Students were given labels of empowerment before heading to lunch and finding others to sit with who had the same label. Tables of "smart", "brave", "loyal", "kind", etc. students filled the commons proving it can be fun to mix things up a bit every now and then!

Anti-Bullying Week-October 3-9, 2011
Activities in homeroom for the National Anti-Bullying Week will focus on name calling and the negative affects of name calling. We will be sponsoring an Anti-Bullying Door Decorating Contest with prizes awarded by our PTO. We will follow up this activity on National Mix-it-Up at Lunch Day on October 18, 2011, by using terms of Empowerment to "mix" things up in a positive way!
SAC Bake Sale Week- September 27-30, 2011
SAC sponsored a bake sale with all profits going towards our sponsored Spring Hill Christmas families. We had a successful week thanks to the support of some super bakers and their families from the middle school. Over $500 was brought in during the event. We are well on our way to being able to support 3 Spring Hill families for Christmas this year. How sweet is that?
RED-WHITE-BLUE/ iPod Friday- September 9, 2011
In remembrance of the 10th anniversary of 9/11, the SAC is sponsoring Red-White-Blue/iPod Day. Students will wear red, white and blue on Friday, September 9th, as a symbol of America's spirit- something that can never be destroyed. One dollar will be collected during homeroom for those students who want to listen to their iPods, with money going to our local Veteran's group. Media Gallery
Hero Week- August 23-26, 2011
SAC sponsored H.E,R.O. Week or Helping Everyone Respect Others on August 23rd-August 26th. Fun activities were planned throughout the week that required both student and staff involvement.
August 23, 2011- HERO Flash Mob to start off the week on the right foot, followed by a Homeroom activity "Playing the Bully Card" and passing out "I am a H.E.R.O." wristbands to every student.
August 24, 2011-Mix-it-Up Day at lunch. Students sat with different groups of people at lunch to get to know one another just a little better.
August 25, 2011- Homeroom activity: "497 Ways to be Kind". Each student wrote on a strip of paper a way that they could be kind to others. A chain was formed to hang in the commons to represent each student in the school.
August 26, 2011- Maverick Spirit Day as well as Infomercial Contest. Each homeroom can enter a script for an infomercial about anti-bullying. The top winners from each grade level will be made into a video to show during homeroom at a later date. Check back to see which homerooms win the contest!
