Where am I?
Foreign Cultures Club
On Monday, October 25th, the exchange students from the high school came to visit the members of the Foreign Cultures Club. The exchange students were excited to share their first impressions of the United States while the Middle School students were eager to learn about their different cultures: German, Brazillian, and Swedish.
Here are a few fun facts from the meeting:
First Impressions:
Everything in the United States was so big - big houses, big yards, and big cars!
- Some students thought Kansas was going to be a desert and were surprised to see so much grass as their plane arrived at KCI Airport.
- Everyone was so nice and friendly.
- School is completely different.
- They liked having the option to choose the classes they wanted to take.
- They enjoy having school sports. School sports don't exist in their home countries; students have to sign up for clubs in the community if interested in sports.
- They like to be in school for the entire day; in their countries they spend only half the day at school.
Foods they like:
- Taco Bell
- Pop Tarts
- Oreo Cookies
Foods they don't like:
- Bread
- Waffles - not sweet enough
- Popcorn - tastes different here
We greatly enjoyed the time spent together and look forward to the next visit from the exchange students!
