Where am I?
SHHS Orchestra Ghost Ranch Tour
The Spring Hill High School Orchestra, Southwest tour has many purposes. There are many cultural opportunities in the Southwest. We will be staying at the Ghost Ranch in Abiquiu, New Mexico. It’s 21,000 acres date back to the times when this was Spanish land and is where Georgia O’Keefe created some of her most important art. The students will be immersed in the culture of the Southwest. We will tour the Taos Pueblo, which has been continuously occupied for over 1,000 years – as well as learning some Native American drumming and dancing and see a performance by the members of the tribe. Students will ride horses in the desert southwest and do a team building low ropes course. Students will have all of this while learning and working on music both classical and music with a southwest influence. Students will work with exceptional clinicians to open their eyes to the possibilities of music – while preparing a concert that will be in the famous Chapel at the Ghost Ranch (the concert will be free and open to the public). The tour will help continue to build a strong program by working on teamwork as well as technique. This tour offers so many positive experiences; I hope it will be a trip remembered for a lifetime!
