Horatio Alger Scholarship
Criteria:
- Enrolled full time as a high school senior.
- Intend to pursue a bachelor's degree at an accredited institution.
- Critical financial need, preferably $50,000 or lower.
- Involvement in co-curricular and community service activities.
- Minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0.
- US citizenship.

Greater Kansas City Crime Stoppers Scholarship
Criteria:
- High school senior
- Good character with no criminal background
- Two (2) letters of recommendation by at least two faculty members.
- Essay on the topic , "How can "social media" such as Twitter, Utube, and Facebook assist law enforcement in their duties and promote increased participation by young adults in the criminal justice process?"

Belles of the American Royal Presidential Scholarship
Criteria:
- Are entering their senior year of high school in 2011 or are currently pursuing an undergraduate or associates degree in any field of study,
- Have completed and documented at least 15 volunteer hours at American Royal events (see application for more information of qualifying events and verification form)
- Have maintained a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.

Kansas City K-State Alumni Club Scholarship
Criteria:
- Several $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to incoming freshmen from the KC Metro area.
- Minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Application includes three letters of recommendation, essay, and academic information and verification
- Application is available through the counseling office or at http://www.k-state.com/Clubs/KansasCityAreaAlumniClub click on the link for "K-State Wabash Cannon Ball Scholarships."
- This application does not replace the general K-State scholarship application, but is an excellent opportunity for students to earn a $2,500 scholarship.

Criteria:
- Lost the life of at least one parent (biological or non) to cancer before the age of 22.

Johnson County STOP underage drinking scholarship
Criteria:
- Must be an active, positive drug-free role model for others.

Criteria:

The Hixson Opportunity Awards
Criteria:
- The Hixson Opportunity Award was established to provide the opportunity for students to attend KU who would otherwise not be able to because of personal challenges and/or financial hardship.
Amount: Each recipient will have the opportunity to receive up to $20,000 for their educational expenses ($5,000 per year for up to four years).

Criteria:
- Must demonstrate financial need

- Pursue this profession in a health related institution such as a nursing home or hospital located in Kansas.

Olathe Medical Center***
Criteria:
- Spring Hill student planning to pursue a career in health care.

Johnson County League of Women Voters Scholarship
Criteria:
- Enrolled in a Johnson County High School
- Be 19 years or younger and a graduating senior
- Submit an essay of not more than 500 words
Amount: $1,000
Deadline: Must be submitted by midnight of February 17, 2012
Application: Essays can be submitted in Word or PDF document format as an attachment to an email addressed to Paula.Schwach@dot.gov. Please do not include your name on any part of the essay other than the email transmittal sheet and the attached cover sheet/entry form.
The essay must address the following question: If redistricting is the art of selecting voters for candidates, why is it still vital to vote?
The winner will be honored at our annual Making Democracy Work Awards Program on Saturday, May 5, 2012, and must be available then to read the winning essay.
Spring Hill Education Foundation***
Criteria:
- If entering the workforce, must have a documented career plan.
- If entering college or technical school, must have been accepted to post-secondary education.
- Awarded on basis of experiences/achievements, attendance, community and school involvement, and career goals.

Criteria:
- Currently living in Johnson County.

Criteria:
- Scholarships will be awarded to young men and women who have attended the area high school a minimum of two years, will graduate from one of the area schools, and shall be used for obtaining a college education.
