Curriculum

Prairie Creek Elementary School follows district curriculum, which was approved by the Spring Hill Board of Education.  Our reading series provides a reading model that includes small group rotation and covers the “Big 5” in reading.  Not only has the reading series proven to increase academic achievement on daily reading skills, but it also has led to tremendous student achievement on Kansas state assessments.

The Prairie Creek Elementary science laboratory allows teachers to provide students with a hands-on approach with science experiments that enhance the curriculum. Our EveryDay Math series provides a spiraling instructional format. This format provides students with numerous opportunities to practice specific math skills that will need to be mastered.

At Prairie Creek, students have the opportunity to experience technology as part of their curriculum. Our students work on project – based activities in the computer lab, and the students continue these activities in the classroom using laptops from our wireless cart. 

Prairie Creek Elementary also provides instruction in vocal music, physical education, and art.
