WCES Receives Donation from The Rye Studio
Posted on 05/10/2018
Wolf Creek Elementary School (WCES) has received a generous donation from Chase and Amy Ashurst. Chase and Amy are the owners of The Rye Studio and have a son in Kindergarten at WCES. The donation from the Ashurst family is to be used for safety initiatives at WCES.

This donation will provide a safety program for parents and students:
  • Create a student section of the library dedicated to safety books that are specifically written for children and videos and games with safety in mind. Topics will range anywhere from traffic safety, stranger danger, fire and storm safety, bullying, and other personal safety issues.
  • Create a parent resource library with books and resources that are parent friendly and available for parent check out. The topics may be of a more sensitive nature to more general safety topics that they may want information on. Social media and Internet safety will be high on the list.
  • Plan an evening opportunity one time per quarter for parents and possibly families to come to the school to learn more about topics that are safety related. WCES would like to host a speaker that addresses Internet/social media/smart phone safety, perhaps a bike rodeo.
  • Host at least one assembly each year that continues this focus on safety.

"We are touched at the generosity of the Ashurst family/The Rye Studio for this donation and are fortunate to be able to further our safety efforts at Wolf Creek Elementary School," said Michelle Hackney, principal at WCES.

Thank you Ashurst family for your generous contribution to Wolf Creek Elementary School.
