Welcome to occupational therapy! My name is Laura Wilson, and I am the occupational therapist for the early childhood program at Spring Hill Elementary.
As the occupational therapist, I mostly work in the student’s classroom, helping them learn skills that are necessary for them to successfully participate in their daily classroom activities. I work with students on improving their eye-hand coordination and fine motor skills through activities, such as cutting, drawing and fine motor manipulatives. In addition, a student may work with me to help improve their activities of daily living (zipping up their jackets or buttoning buttons) or their sensory processing skills.
In early childhood, a student’s primary learning often comes through play. The student’s are often very excited when they are able to accomplish a new task!
