Lonnie Vopat
Fifth Grade Teacher

Welcome to Fifth Grade!  I am looking forward to an exciting, productive year of working with your student in his/her quest for knowledge.  I have high expectations for your child and I will do all that I can to help your child achieve these expectations.

Along with our core subjects, we will be reading chapter books, some will include book luncheons with great discussions over the book, developing technology projects, and working on special projects, such as Exchange City, our wax museum, and plays.

You can help.  There will be assignments to be completed.  There is always time in school to work on these assignments, but all children do not work at the same pace.

Some will have their work finished before they leave school, and some will need to bring it home for completion.  Most assignments are due the next day, although there are times that I will give the students a specific date for completion, such as some of the special projects.  The way you can help is to ask you child every school day if there is any schoolwork that needs to be completed, and if so, encourage your child to complete the work.  Developing good study habits will not only benefit your child this year, but on into the future.

You may contact me by phone, 913-592-7132, or e-mail, vopatl@usd230.org if you have any questions or concerns during the year.

Sincerely,
Mrs. Lonnie Vopat
